TEDxLancasterU invites you to join our inspirational speakers on the 7th May 2014, where we shall explore the changing landscapes around us and truly appreciate that never before have we been closer; economically, geographically and socially. Over the past 50 years, Lancaster University has become a hub of multiculturalism and diversity to shape today’s people into tomorrow’s visionaries. We cordially invite you to explore how we can bridge the gaps between us and obtain a glimpse of what Pangaea 2.0 could be.

TED Talks began as a simple attempt to share what happens at TED with the world. Under the moniker "ideas worth spreading," talks were released online. They rapidly attracted a global audience in the millions. Indeed, the reaction was so enthusiastic that the entire TED website has been reengineered around TED Talks, with the goal of giving everyone on-demand access to the world's most inspiring voices. As of November 2012, TED Talks have been viewed more than one billion times.

TEDx was created in the spirit of TED's mission, "ideas worth spreading." The program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level. At TEDx events, a screening of TEDTalks videos -- or a combination of live presenters and TEDTalks videos -- sparks deep conversation and connections. TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis. What you'll find at each TEDx event:

TED'S CELEBRATED FORMAT

7th May 2014

TEDxLancasterU Village aims to bring together the Lancaster University community by giving students the opportunity to explore various themes in an interactive environment, which will allow them to showcase their own potential and trigger their curiosity. TEDxVillage is an indoor set up in the break area of the Conference, which will serve as a platform to explore different topics, each one designed to highlight a subject area worth spreading. Refreshments and snacks will also be served inside the TEDxVillage.

Modeled on the original TEDx Salon concept which allows attendees to ‘watch TED Talks, host a few speakers and have informal discussions about the recorded TED Talks’, TEDxLancasterU also organizes casual gatherings for people to enjoy a variety of TED Talks. The big screen and sofas allow for a comfortable and relaxing experience where friends can get together to have a drink, feast on complementary snacks and of course appreciate a series of stimulating and entertaining TED Talks.
